Valentino history Vs. Dior History

Valentino Garavani partnered with architect Giancarlo Giammetti to create the Valentino brand. In his first ready-to-wear collection, Valentino featured the signature “red dress” called the “Fiesta,” otherwise known as Valentino Red. Valentino debuted his first couture fashion line in 1962 at the Pitti Palace in Florence, Italy. Valentino attributes much of his success to former first lady Jacklyn Kennedy-Onassis, in that she contributed to the “Valentino Boom.”

Before the creation of his own couture house, Dior worked under Robert Piguet and Lucien Lelong, both prominent designers of their time. Dior’s personal Maison founded in 1946 in Paris, at 30 Avenue Montaigne. Dior’s first fashion show on  February 12, 1947 unveiled a “transcendent” and “timeless” collection, meant to reinvigorate fashion following the second World War, where the “New Look” was founded .
